Abstract
We consider three traffic performance issues that relate to the cost-effectiveness of mass market broadband (MMBB) services: the impacts of long holding times characteristic of MMBB applications such as video on demand, on engineering and analysis; the gains in delaying and hatching user requests in a near VOD (NVOD) environment; and the performance feasibility of reusing existing protocols (specifically, X.25) for signaling transport in support of interactive features
