Abstract
The special resistor characteristic impedance divider recommended in IEC 1321-1 was designed to measure the transient enclosure voltage (TEV) induced by DS switching in 362 kV GIS both in laboratory and on-site. The characteristics of such a measuring system were studied and the optimal parameters were determined through the unit step response method. The test results showed that the amplitudes of TEV were of normal distribution and the maximum probability was about 40% appearing when TEV amplitude was around 800 V. The high frequency component measured was up to 40 MHz.
