Abstract
The influence of saturated Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers "SOA" (classical or gain clamped) on the transmission characteristics of a fibre optical link carrying a microwave signal is presented. SOAs present different behaviour in term of gain, nonlinearity, frequency response and noise in accordance with the modulation frequency of the input signal.
