Abstract :
Design considerations and in-service effects of two new spare rectiblocks being used at three chlor-alkali plants are discussed. The spares reduce lost production due to rectifier transformer failure. Because of physical constraints, DC voltage levels, and differing rectiblock currents, a compromise in design is reached. This design does not include variable phase shift to match replaced rectiblocks which are already part of a multipulse rectifier scheme. Thus, a revaluation of harmonic conditions is necessary. Harmonic results are compared against IEEE Standard 519-1992
