Abstract
Wireless ATM networks in multimedia environments are considered. The quality of service (QOS) of the multimedia traffic is modeled and two transmission techniques are proposed, both observing the traffic QOS: a framed time domain-based (FTDB) technique and a framed CDMA (FCDMA) technique. Considering the dynamics of the multimedia wireless environment, a higher level traffic monitoring algorithm (TMA) is superimposed, which dictates the capacity allocations for the heterogeneous traffic dynamically. The FTDB-TMA and FCDMA-TMA combinations are evaluated and compared, in terms of capacities, rejection rates, delays, etc
