Abstract
Generally electronic equipment is EMC tested before it is integrated into more complex systems or IT networks. But today there is a lack of susceptibility tests of complex electronic systems in their typical application environment. However, this requirement is essential for IEMI assessment of critical infrastructure. Recently at WIS a special office module was installed to ensure an adequate test surrounding for IEMI analysis and qualification testing for electronic complex systems in critical infrastructure. A wide range of sources for electromagnetic interference can be applied, like Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (NEMP), High-Power Microwave (HPM) and meso-/hyperband systems. The office module test environment was electromagnetically characterized by numerical simulation and measurements. A NEMP test of a networked computer system integrated into the office module is described and a first attempt to numerically simulate cable coupling within the module for NEMP scenario is presented.
