Abstract :
We have developed a model for Monte Carlo simulation of the function of the mammographic unit to be used as a research tool for the optimization of the mammographic procedure. A software phantom of a compressed breast has been designed and all possible physical interactions between X-rays and matter have been taken into account. Preliminary test results are presented. The expectations from this simulation are also discussed
