Abstract
Aiming at estimating a regional-area railway freight OD matrix, multi-source information was first analyzed. Then a multi-information OD estimation model based on fuzzy planning theory, as well as a heuristic solution algorithm, was presented. A case study in Jiangsu Province, China was completed to prove that multi-source information could be taken advantage of in regional railway freight OD estimation and can improve the precision of the estimation method, especially when data is scarce. Compared with other OD estimation models, the usefulness of fuzzy mathematics in solving the uncertainty problem caused by the introduction of multi-source information, and the criticalness of weights of different types of data for accuracy of OD estimation were also proved.
