Abstract :
Highly dispersed Pt nanoparticles were prepared by exchanging H+ sites in surface OH groups present on porous SiO2 for [Pt(NH3)4]2+ ions in a solution and were characterized using various characterization techniques. The metallic Pt particles with three different coordination environments had very small sizes near 1 nm and were uniformly distributed on the support. These nanodispersed Pt particles gave high intrinsic activity in N2O-H2 reaction at very low temperatures, such as 363 K.
