Abstract
The author looks at the trend toward a constant increase in automation. She starts with operation feedback on automation in the aeronautical industry, and more generally in complex systems, and describes the main work characteristics in these automated situations. She then presents the criteria used to define the level of automation and the global approach allowing human factors to be taken account of at the design stage
