Abstract
Supervision of frequency deviation of FM broadcast stations is usually done through measurement of relative time where the frequency deviation limit is exceeded (hereinafter - overshooting time). When assessing these measurement results, it is necessary to take into account that overshooting time is a random variable because its actual value depends on the programme material being translated. Distribution of overshooting time is close to normal and its standard deviation is directly related to the sample mean. This allowed developing the method for evaluating the probability of overshooting the limits on the basis of only one or several overshooting time measurement results.
