Abstract :
Rapid product design is a new design mode for responding to various customer requirement rapidly. Reusing existing design resource is crucial in this mode. In order to meet the requirement of design resource share and reusability in rapid product design, this paper proposes a method based on tabular layout of article characteristics (TLAC) that generates part variant automatically. The TLAC is based on the parts family functionality of a CAD system. Then, a set of part variant that suit to various requirements are realized by transferring the article characteristic and part master model separately. Based on above work, a web-based rapid product design platform was put forward to realize design resource share and reusability, which has been applied in the rapid design of automotive component manufacturing.
