Abstract :
The partial discharge (PD) measurement is the most important test for assessment of the condition of any HV-insulating system. On the other hand an error-free detection and correct interpretation of measured PD-activity during commissioning tests in the HV-laboratory or on-site, is still a topic for a dispute especially in case when the HV-component does not fulfill the specified requirements recommended in the International Standards. Based on more than 15 years experience in PD-measurements and interpretation, three most frequently observed effects responsible for large measuring errors and misleading analysis of PD-results are discussed in this contribution.
