Abstract :
It is a common problem in empirical study of product market competition that the institutional background of product market competition in China is ignored, which makes the result of some study suspect. To provide the institutional background knowledge of product market competition for future related research in China, this paper studies the characteristics at different stages of marketization. The characteristic of the product market competition is different at various stages of marketization. Nowadays the product market competition displays such characteristics as following: low industry concentration and fierce competition, excessive competition and insufficient competition coexisting, unfair competition between state-owned enterprises and non-state-owned enterprises.
