Abstract :
In this paper, firstly we analyze the characteristics of integrated transportation information platform (ITIP). Then based on the introduction of the characteristics of XML technology and the feasibility of its application in integrated transportation information platform, we propose the system architecture of integrated transportation information platform based on XML technique, including three main layers: distributed heterogeneous data source layer, information integration layer, application system layer, as well as analyzing their characteristics. Thirdly we discuss the function and content of the ITIP integrated database based on XML. In this paper we also discuss the deployment of XML-based ITIP and its integrated database, including the developmental environment, the program language and an example. At the end we conclude that XML is a good tool to exchange and integrate traffic information among various traffic management systems in a city.
