Abstract
The authors evaluate the performance of an integrated flow control strategy that exploits all three basic techniques: buffer control, window control, and isarithmic control. The performance criteria are based on transit data throughput, improvement of node utilization, and minimization of end-to-end transit delay caused by retransmission traffic and unavailability of resources. A performance improvement is observed when higher priority is given to retransmission of packet traffic. Several tradeoffs in designing such a flow control strategy are evaluated
