Abstract :
The present paper deals with a new procedure able to compute, in a efficient and accurate way, the monostatic EM field scattered by a target for every direction of incidence of the incoming wave and at every radar to target distance, up to few meters. The efficiency is necessary when the procedure is to be integrated in a radar-target engagement simulator. The procedure is based on an off-line EM simulation (or on an equivalent measurement activity) aimed at collecting far field scattered data, which are stored as radar images by suitable data reduction algorithms and on a methodology able to retrieve scattered data for every distance and direction of incidence. The extrapolation to scattered data under spherical field conditions leads to quite accurate results and is fundamental for a correct simulation of the final phases of the engagement
