Abstract :
Mass Customization (MC) has achieved remarkable success and widespread application in the manufacturing, whereas in service industry it just beginning. Great deals of studies for MC are also based on the manufacturing, in services industry there are still a lot of research gaps. In this paper, Firstly, The successful experiences of MC applications in the manufacturing are summarized; include modularization, postponement and electronic commerce platform three big essential factors. Which the postponement is very difficult to implement in services industry is the key issues in MC application. Then a "non-physical products services industry (NPPSI)" concept was put forward and defined. Inventory can be regarded as infinite in NPPSI, which can be used to solve the problem of postponement in mass customization. At last conclusions are given.
