Abstract :
Depth perception is a visual discrimination in detecting the relative space position. A review of research on depth perception and spatial ability reveals that recognition on anaglyphs allows student to construct and store an image when it is needed in geographic thinking. This paper describes a CAI model of depth perception that was designed to improve spatially based concepts to students. In order to realize the model, we researched on how to generate dynamic anaglyph, which is the key technology to develop the depth perception CAI system and we built a mathematical model of dual-viewpoints projection. The concept and the realization are discussed and a first prototype is presented, which effectively solve the problems existed in teaching practice of 3D Spatial Course.
