Abstract
We propose a very energy efficient, FCC compliant, compact CMOS impulse generator for ultra wideband (UWB) based impulse radio (IR) applications like low-power sensor networks. The covered bandwidth of 6.5 GHz and a peak output power of 3.4 mW exploit well the regulation. The energy consumption of just 3.9 pJ per pulse and almost no quiescent energy consumption make this pulse generator very suitable for battery-powered or autarkical devices.
