Abstract :
The model in operation for a couple of decades at EDF to build feasible hydraulic programs is no longer accurate enough to fulfill the supplier commitments in the deregulation context. Therefore, the authors developed a new model by testing 2 different methods. The first method is based on a duplication of the variables technique, the second one is based on dynamic programming and an appropriate space-time decomposition. This appropriate decomposition is related to the physical process of advection via the use of characteristic curves. Finally, they compared both methods and selected the second one that provides the desired accuracy in the new context
