Abstract
This paper describes a novel design method and the improvements of performance of a class AB power amplifier by using the equivalent circuit of Defected Ground Structure (DGS). The equivalent circuit of DGS has been used to optimize the output matching circuit for improving the performance of power amplifier. Design method for a power amplifier presented in this paper can provide the accurate design results to satisfy the optimum load condition and the desirable harmonic rejection, simultaneously. As a design example, we have designed a 20W power amplifier by the suggested design method. Measured results for the fabricated DGS power amplifier show pertinently the validity of this paper.
