Abstract :
This research has focused on a novel ultra-short electrical pulse generator based on optically triggered, high gain nonlinear GaAs switches. A microstrip and a parallel-plate pulse generator have been constructed and tested with preliminary experimental results reported. The mechanism of the high gain in nonlinear GaAs switches has been discussed. The physical model and the numerical simulation are also presented.
