Abstract :
This paper, through a typical engineering example of serious liquefaction foundation soil, analyzed the design and construction of liquefiable silt and sand soil foundation improvement by gravel piles. Base on Drucker-Prager model, the vertical settlement deformation of the reinforced gravel pile composite foundation is simulated with the numerical analysis software. The model of gravel pile composite foundation was set up. The bearing capacity and settlement characteristics were analyzed. Through the inspection tests with standard penetration test and cone penetration test after the construction, not only the liquefaction of silt and sand soil was eliminated, but also the foundation strength was improved. The increased range of bearing capacity was up to 20~30%, the highest being 40%. The result of inspection showed that the gravel pile composite foundation was available.
