  • Abstract
This paper describes an energy management system currently being implemented on the University of Natal campus, South Africa. Due to the similarity of its load profile to those of commercial institutions, the campus forms a valuable test case to evaluate the effectiveness of demand side management strategies required to maintain pace with both the current and future changes in the South African electricity supply industry. This paper presents an innovative demand side management strategy for small to medium electricity consumers
