Empirical research of Chinese outward FDI location choice

In the perspective of host country, the impact of location factors for Chinese OFDI choice is examined in this paper. Based on theories of FDI location choice, combining with the features of OFDI of emerging economies represented by China, 9 variables are chose, 6 models are built, and 4 hypotheses are proposed, then the factors that affect Chinese OFDI location choice is verified through the regression analysis of the Chinese investment flow data from 2003 to 2008. The result shows that social environment of host country and bilateral relations between host and home countries significantly affect Chinese OFDI. Finally, some recommendations are proposed specific to the different investment motives of Chinese MNEs.
