Abstract :
The traditional TDOA location and measurement technology estimates the MS (Mobile Station) location using the difference of time that spent by signal beam reaching different BS (Base Station) from the same MS, which has an advantage of strong resistance to the NLOS additional errors but asks for extra channel overheads for measuring the time from a terminal to different base stations. In order to make adjacent base stations receive signals perfectly from the terminal for good time measurement, we usually increase the terminal´s transmit power to achieve this purpose. However, it will bring interference and great power issues for terminals. This paper takes full advantages of the Preamble correlation in 802.16e standard (also similar to other standards) to make multiple base stations receive terminal signals simultaneously, then calculate the transmission time from terminal to adjacent base stations. This solution avoids increasing extra channel overheads and makes the most of TDOA technology advantages to achieve highly accurate location.
