Abstract
The computation of the penetration of the field of an HF antenna into an ammunition storage locker located on the deck of a ship is considered. Electric field intensity in and around the locker is calculated for various configurations of its door. A method-of-moments solution of the electric field integral equation is used. Conclusions are reached regarding the effect of electrical connections between the door and the locker. Results of some measurements are also presented. It was shown that an effective shield was provided when the hinges were used to ground the door to the locker. Latching the door with two hasps provided further shielding
