Abstract :
Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) devices are specifically designed to capture and record gross axle load of moving vehicles. Compared with the traditional sensor, cement-based piezoelectric sensor has good compatibility with the concrete. Therefore it´s suitable to detect the concrete deformation, damage and distribution of internal stress using cement-based piezoelectric sensor. A novel vehicle WIM system based on the cement-based piezoelectric sensor is designed in this paper. In the WIM system, the output signal of axle load can be analyzed, also the axle load, speed of vehicle and axle distance can be computed automatically. The experiments show that this proposed WIM system works well and provides an elegant way to compute the axle load, speed of vehicle and axle distance.
