Abstract :
Ubiquitous learning(u-learning) is a form of mobile learning where learner can access educational material any where, any time using any device. Among different educational contents, video lectures play an important role in enhancing understanding & learning capabilities of a mobile learner. A single content developed for desktop based e-learning may not fit to all mobile devices because of heterogeneity in mobile characteristics in terms of different screen sizes, playback capabilities and dynamic network conditions. Keeping in view the latest trends in mobile communication technologies in India and the increased usage of Information and Communication technologies(ICT) in education sector, this paper discusses video streaming technologies, protocols, video content and various mobile challenges. It also discusses the implementation details and experimental results of a prototype mobile video streaming application in u-learning environment.
