Abstract :
The advent of Web 2.0 has revolutionized the Internet as an inevitable resource of information in today´s human age. The earlier version of World Wide Web (WWW) presented a way communication while the newer version has opened up the avenues for instant and collaborative interaction with rest of the world. This evolution has prompted the deployment of new and innovative services on the web. One such tool which has taken a centre stage in today´s Internet age is the Social Networking (SN). In this paper an attempt is been made to demonstrate how these SN tools could be used as an effective learning tool in the higher education space. The paper also discusses how the different features available in these SN sites - platform could be harnessed for monitoring and evaluation. The paper highlights the usage of other online tools along with this SN tool to create an effective and efficient online Teaching and Learning space.
