Abstract :
Summary form only given. We report the first observation of spatially discrete laser emission from the side of a square microcavity. Spectrally resolved lasing modes were measured for four different sized squares. We observed unidirectional laser emission from the spiral that is quite different from the three-lobe pattern of the mismatched two semi-circles, although the two shapes appear identical.
