  • Abstract
    Multiuser detection schemes are applied to a regional GEO satellite mobile system based on FDM/TDMA. The study focuses on the system uplink (mobile to satellite) and analyzes the performance of candidate schemes taken from the class of linear multiuser receivers. A new simple MMSE combiner is proposed, which provides performance close to optimal in terms of output MSE and lends itself to a simple adaptive implementation. Results pertaining to FDM/TDMA coded transmission with slow frequency hopping and short-depth interleaving are presented
