Abstract :
Suggests an approach to evaluate the error of complex permittivity in dielectric measurements using partially filled microwave resonators. The approach uses the characteristic equation obtained by field matching technique and has no limitation associated with a value of complex permittivity under test. Using experimental data the comparison of the measurement error evaluated by the approach presented to error followed from formulas based on simple perturbation theory is carried out for a number of dielectrics. The comparison shows that these two estimations may be essentially different. The approach presented may be also applied to dielectric measurements using resonators with complex shape and complex dielectric filling when the characteristic equation is obtained by the field matching technique
