Abstract
In foundries, automatic mould pouring control is often difficult to implement because of unknown process variability. The purpose of this paper is to address this problem by proposing a new control strategy based on the modeling of moulds into two subparts: cup and lower part. This decomposition makes it possible to identify the mould lower part dynamics -called "absorption capacity". This identification is then used to design an anticipative control strategy for the mould filling. With regard to other control techniques, the new developed approach makes the reduction of the number of parameters to be adjusted possible and thus improves control performances. The feasibility of the proposed methodology is experimentally validated with a real-time implementation.
