Abstract
When the inductance or capacitance of an RLC parallel circuit is changed periodically, parametric oscillations occur under certain conditions. The parametric oscillation circuit of the sensor we have realized consists of a time varying capacitor and a magnetic head. During oscillation, if the inductance of the head changes in response to an external magnetic field, the oscillation voltage is amplitude-modulated. By demodulating therefore it is possible to detect the magnetic field. In this paper, we describe a magnetic sensor based on parametric oscillation. The performance of parametric sensor depends on the magnetic head. We examine the characteristics of three types of magnetic head to be used as part of the parametric magnetic sensor
