Abstract :
Measurements were taken in three different office buildings to further the understanding of radio propagation inside buildings for future personal communication systems (PCS). Measurements of unblocked, line-of-site range dependence were taken in the clear space between the partition tops and the ceiling with different antenna heights to investigate the effects of antenna height diversity and determine optimal placement of antennas with respect to the ceiling. These measurements are compared to theoretically predicted values of range dependence with good agreement. Measurements of signal coverage to all cubicles in a large room and all adjacent rooms were made to compare to predicted signal strengths. Measurements of propagation to other floors were also taken in a 10-story high-rise office building. Signal strengths on other floors are compared to theoretically predicted values with good agreement
