Abstract
Summary form only given. The relation between dipole moment and radiative lifetime in quantum dots has led to a controversy. We help to clarify this problem by a generalization of a previous analysis carefully taking into account both the dielectric constant of the quantum dot and the medium. Interface fluctuation quantum dots (IFQD) are large monolayer islands naturally formed when growing structures with growth interruption. We calculate the IFQD dipole moment using a simple model of a two-dimensional exciton in a finite circular box in the in-plane direction.
