Abstract :
Summary form only given. In this paper we show experimentally that ring dark solitons can be generated using a phase disk or an opaque ring. The nonlinear material was a solution of methylene blue in isopropyl alcohol with an optical density of 18 for a wavelength 514 /spl mu/m.
