Abstract :
Summary form only given. We focused a 150-fs, 775-nm laser pulse with a pulse energy of up to 500 pJ through a 100-/spl mu/m-thick type- I-phase-matched BBO crystal into air. In order to adjust the relative phase between the fundamental and the second harmonic, a thin quartz glass plate is placed inbetween the BBO crystal and the focus. We demonstrated that third order non-linearities in laser-induced plasmas offer a promising source for high-energy THz pulse generation.
