Abstract :
The goal of the paper is to establish a simple technique for nearly lossless compression of color images which would be resistant to the cumulative effect of distortions introduced in consecutive cycles of encoding and decoding. The paper proves that application of standard color transformation between the RGB and the transmission coordinates leads to maximum error J=1 for the red and green components and d=2 for the blue component. The most important feature is that later cycles of compression and decompression do not introduce any further degradation, so further encoding/decoding cycles remain entirely lossless. Experimental results with histological images have verified the theoretical results
