Abstract
The use of computer generated holograms as high redundancy optical labels has been outlined. The results obtained for an inexpensive write-once-read-many medium storing 1 Kbit of information have been given and that the hologram has been tailored to this particular application has been demonstrated. The coding and plotting techniques have been given and these have proved to be simple and fast. The resulting holotags were high in diffraction efficiency and gave high fidelity reconstructions
