Abstract :
Summary form only given. We use a femtosecond two pulse excitation scheme and monitor the charge generation directly by detecting the photocurrent correlation. We conclude that in organic photodetectors a significant portion of polaron pairs is strongly bound such that charge carrier generation only occurs after reexcitation by a second laser pulse. Polaron pairs are formed as intermediate states in pure conjugated polymers as well as in fullerene/polymer blend systems.
