  • Abstract
The performance of a bedside ST-segment monitor was evaluated on patients in a coronary care unit. The monitor assesses ST segments using dominant normal beats as determined by the monitor´s arrhythmia-detection software. Measurements of ST-segment level are averaged over 1-min intervals, stored, and tended graphically. Control ST-segment measurements were made from magnetic-tape recordings of the ECG. The mean difference between the bedside-monitor and control ST measurements was -0.01 mm, with a standard deviation of ±0.29 mm and a correlation coefficient of 0.90. The monitor accurately trended the ST-segment deviation on a variety of patients over a range of deviation from -2.77 to +3.21 mm
