Abstract :
The distributed three-dimension multi-user virtual campus system has the intention to consider distance education and experience of the campus life as well. The main goal of this system is to create an educational communication and collaboration environment with three-dimension virtual reality. This system should not only provide all needs and functionality for the students in the distance education but also serve as some experiences of campus life. In three-dimensional virtual campus environment, teachers and students in different locations are seemed to live in the same space, so that users can submerge themselves in friendly environments that make learning more pleasant. They can communicate and collaborate with each other in the virtual campus, which inspires the learning interest and increases students´ collective knowledge and facilitate cooperation. Hence, the distributed three-dimension virtual campus system which we present will be the new direction of modern distance education for its high practical worth in enhancing learning atmosphere and constructing campus culture.
