Abstract
The new modification of a compact generator based on a virtual cathode (VC) for generation of noise-type chaotic microwave signals was proposed and investigated with the help of 3D electromagnetic code. It has been shown that realization of compact drift space for the electron beam promotes VC formation and chaotization of output radiation of the generator. The physical processes responsible for the behavior of the VC generator were investigated.
