Abstract
Discussion of methods for reducing impact of harmonics due to power electronic drives on rural distribution feeders. Techniques studied to reduce harmonic currents include: attempting to break resonances by redistributing power factor correcting capacitors or consolidating the capacitors into one or more select locations. If this is not possible then it will be necessary to filter the harmonic currents from the feeder. It is suggested that the power factor capacitors be used as a component of the harmonic filters.
