Abstract
This article described the history of Geoffery Dummer´s idea of semiconductor “solid circuits” and microchips. The author foresaw the future of microcircuitry, but due to inadequate funding, lack of access to necessary expertise, and skepticism by potential customers, the RRE project to construct the first integrated circuit was doomed to failure.
