Abstract
The spherical near-field method has the potential to provide a powerful and efficient data reduction scheme in the context of certain specific antenna measurement requirements. Some of these requirements have been outlined in this paper: simultaneous measurement at multiple frequencies, aperture field diagnostics, wide angle sidelobe measurements, characterisations with special coordinate systems and grids, and the measurement of certain discrete parameters such as beam pointing
