  • Abstract
The authors describe a 10 Gbps transmission system, developed in Korea, which is composed of the high speed processing part of the STM (synchronous transport module)-64 and the tributary processing part of the STM1/4/16. They define a interface that can accommodate any kind of tributaries in the 10 Gbps SDH transmission system. The interface between the high speed processing part and the tributary processing parts is implemented by an electrical 622 Mbps NRZ (non-return to zero) signal that has an STM-4 frame format. An ASIC chip set has been designed for connection in the above scheme. To test and evaluate the transmission performance of this connection, SD (signal degrade) monitoring using the B1 parity code is proposed
